Shopping tips for festive season

Major festivals like Holi and Diwali (Dipawali) are synonymous with shopping in India. Shopping gives immense pleasure but also burns a hole in our pocket. So how shall we shop without busting our budget is the question which haunts every shopper. To answer this age old question, we bring you some useful shopping tips.

1) Don’t be an impulsive buyer

Never take a final buying decision on impulse. When we receive a bonus from our employer, the immediate temptation is to buy something. However, when deciding what to buy, we tend to spend the money on something that we like but don’t need. There are always some particular things which are on top of our shopping list but stay there mostly due to money crunch. You should use your extra income to buy such things first.

2) Don’t forget to negotiate

When buying from online stores, there is no scope for negotiating on the price. However, when you visit a brick and mortar shop then you must not shy away from bargaining to get the maximum discount on MRP.

3) Read reviews and check ratings

The grass is green on the other side. If something looks good to you on an online shop, it need not turn out to be equally good when you buy it. So it’s important to check the ratings and read available reviews about the product and the seller before you buy it. If you cannot find the review on the e-commerce portal hosting the product then you can find reviews from other websites easily.

4) Buy a product at its best price

Often one product is sold by many vendors. In such cases, you should take advantage by contacting several vendors, negotiating with each of them and finding the best price. When buying from an e-commerce portal, you will find that prices fluctuate from time to time. So wait patiently and time your purchase accordingly to get what you need at the best price.

5) Beware of online scams

Hackers and scammers take advantage of festive season to lure people into revealing their personal information and using it to steal money from their accounts. Don’t be tricked by thieves showing unbelievable and irresistible offers to you. If a deal is too good to be true then it probably is.
